For a new retail purchase, open mcafee.com/activate. If you already redeemed the key, use your McAfee account to download the app instead.
Enter your product key
Enter the retail activation key and email address on McAfee’s official page. Check the characters carefully before continuing.
Review the activation terms
McAfee’s instructions include Auto-Renewal enrolment with a valid payment method. Read the renewal price and conditions shown for your purchase before confirming.
Install and check the app
Follow McAfee’s prompts to download and install. Open the app afterwards and check the subscription and protection status. Completing a web form alone does not install protection.

Already redeemed your McAfee key?
A retail key can only be redeemed once. Reinstalling starts in the account holding that subscription. Use the same email associated with the original purchase; another account does not automatically inherit your subscription.
Which code do I need?
Retail subscription activation uses a 25-character product key. A shorter feature-activation code or a Mac installation serial number serves a different purpose. Use the code requested by the specific official screen, rather than substituting another number from your account.
McAfee came with a new Windows PC
Open the preinstalled McAfee app and go to Account → My Subscription → Go to My Account. Sign in and follow the activation prompts. McAfee also documents Verify subscription from its Windows taskbar icon to synchronise the app with the subscription.
The key is not accepted
Check for typing errors and confirm the activation page’s country matches the country of purchase. Keep the receipt and exact error message ready for official support. If the key was already used, check your existing account before trying to redeem it again.

01Can I use the same retail key twice?+
No. McAfee says retail keys can only be redeemed once. Additional installations use your account and must fit the subscription’s device allowance.
02Where do I enter my McAfee activation code?+

03Do I need to buy again if McAfee is already installed?+
